Cynthia ?Cindy? M. Bass, 65, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, October 27, 2020.
Cindy was born on February 24, 1955, to Johnnie and Marjorie Bass in Grand Rapids, MN. She spent her first years in nearby Coleraine, MN until her family moved to Bomi Hills, Liberia (West Africa), where she and her younger sister Coleen were raised from 1962 ? 1970. Her father Johnnie worked in the iron mines there. They then moved back to the Iron Range, settling down in Babbitt in 1970. She graduated from high school in 1973 and later studied accounting at Vermillion Community College in Ely, MN.
Cindy moved to Kasson in 1985, where she spent her career working both as an office manager/dispatcher for various construction companies and as a kitchen manager. Many locals will remember her home-made lunch specials at Zumbro Valley Golf Course.
Throughout her life, she has a passion for taking care of rescue dogs, she and her dogs even once featured in a Dodge County Independent article. She was very creative and loved crafting. Her colorful, lighted vases that she molded out of melted beads adorn many homes locally, nationally, and internationally (as far as Romania). She also enjoyed cooking, watching movies with popcorn, and hanging out with friends and her grandchildren. She was a close friend to many in Kasson.
Cindy is survived by her furry family (Gus and Maggie); her son Jason Meier (and Daniela), and three grandchildren, Nathan, Sebastian, and Milena, all of Rochester; her sister Coleen Swartz (and Kurt Fjerstad) of Kasson, sister-in-law Francine Bass of Grand Rapids, brother-in-law Ronald Gross of Jacksonville, FL; and her uncle Jack Engstrom of Kasson. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, brother David, and sister Sandra (Gross).
There will be a private, family gathering at Dibble Funeral Home in Kasson, MN. Once COVID-19 restrictions have passed, there will be a celebration of her life open to all whose lives she has touched to be announced later.
The family requests memorials be directed to Paws and Claws Humane Society in Rochester, MN.
