      Death of Mrs. W.G. Bassett

      Mrs. Almeda Bassett, wife of the late W.G. Bassett, died at 11 o?clock last Saturday morning at her home on Brooklyn street. She had been in failing health for a number of years from heart trouble, but had been confined to her bed only a week.
      Almeda Merrill Davison, daughter of Amory and Nancy Mills Davison, was born in Craftsbury Oct. 31, 1839, and is the last of a family of eight children. On Dec. 5, 1859, she was united in marriage to W.G. Bassett. After their marriage they lived in North Hyde Park five years, in Cambridge and Craftsbury for a time and in Eden for 21 years, before moving to a farm in Hyde Park, where they resided until coming to this village nine years ago, where Mr. Bassett died two years ago last February. She was a sister of the late Hon. Amory Davison of Craftsburg, a railroad commissioner under Gov. C.S. Page.
      The deceased was kind hearted and affectionate, not only to those of her immediate household but to all who knew her and many are they who will cherish her memory. There was a large floral tribute indicative of the high esteem in which the deceased was held.
      She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Bassett Rogers of Eden and Mrs. Gussie Bassett Wheeler of this place, three grandchildren, Guy Rogers and Mrs. Clyde Riddell of Portland, Ore., and William Bassett Lilley of this place and three great grandchildren in Oregon.
      The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 1 o?clock from the house, Rev. R.D. Cranmer, pastor of the Universalist church, officiating, and burial was in the family lot in Pleasant View Cemetery. The bearers were two nephews, Geo. Bassett of Stow and Geo. Allen of North Hyde Park, and two sons in-law, A.F. Rogers of Eden and F.E. Wheeler of this place.

      The funeral of Mrs. Almeda Bassett was held on Monday afternoon at one o?clock at her late home on Brooklyn street, the Rev. R.D. Cranmer officiating. Interment was in the family lot in Pleasant View cemetery. George B. Allen or North Hyde Park, George Bassett of Stowe, two nephews of the deceased, and Alson Rogers of Eden and Pred E. Wheeler of Morrisville, two sons-in-law, were bearers. Almeda Merrill Davison, one of a family of eight children of Amory and Nancy Mills Davison, was born in Craftsbury, November 1, 1839. December 5, 1858, she was united in marriage to William G. Bassett, who died three years ago next February. Mr. and Mrs. Bassett resided in North Hyde Park for five years, a few years in Cambridge and Craftsbury, then moved to Eden, where they passed 21 years, moving then to Hyde Park, where they resided until coming to Morrisville nine years ago. Mrs. Bassett had been in failing health for a number of years with heart trouble, and was confined to her bed but a week passing away suddenly Saturday at 11:00 a.m. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Bassett Rogers of Eden and Mrs. Gussie Bassett Wheeler of Morrisville, and three grandchildren, G.A Rogers and Mrs. Clyde Riddell of Portland, Ore., and William Bassett III of Morrisville.
