Ruth Wilson Bass
Ruth Wilson Bass, 90, of Savannah, died Sunday, February 20, 2005 at Hospice Savannah, Inc. She was born in Troy, AL., and had lived in Savannah since 1936. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Theo Bass, and a son, H. Theo Bass, Jr. She was a member of Alderagate United Methodist Church, the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, a memeber of Amity Chapter #183, Order of the Easter Star, and the American Business Women's Association. She was elected in 1970 as Savannah Woman of the Year, and had worked 20 years for the Trust Company Bank, serving as a Banking Officer. Ruth had been a resident of Chatham Nursing Home since 1999, and she competed in the "Miss Chatham Nursing Home Pageant" in 2001, and she was selected "Miss Chatham Nursing Home" by the judges. She served as Secretary for the Resident's Council, and enjoyed Bible Study and Singing at the Nursing Home. She was a member of the Ale e Shriners Chanters Unit, Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by three grandsons, two nephews, one niece and several devoted friends. Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home. Graveside service: 2 p.m., Wednesday in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park, with Rev. Steve Meguiar, officiating.
