Wilma Hayes Bass

Wilma Hayes Bass, of Statesville, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2021.
She was born Feb. 7, 1940, in Iredell County, to the late James Delbert "Bert" Hayes and Lydia Marie Redd Hayes.
She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, and worked for Piedmont Knitting and retired from Heritage Knitting. Wilma also worked for Manheim Auto Auction.
She loved her family and church family. Wilma enjoyed fishing, the beach and as a child, she waited for the first snow of the year. Wilma will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 65 years, Jay F. "Jack" Bass; her children, Ronny (Pat) Bass, JoAnn (Keith) Cook, Gayle (Jody) Taylor and Trudy (Robert) Goforth. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Lorne (Sonya) Cook, Lucy Cook and Elizabeth Goforth (Cody Josey); one stepgranddaughter, Kim (Scott) Hill; and five stepgreat-grandchildren, Katie (Tyler), Kaleb, Kara Hill, Emalee and Nathan Money. Wilma also leaves behind one great-grandson, Jackson Cook; and several cousins.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 3 p.m., at Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with Pastor Tim Glaser and Pastor Sue Moore officiating. The family will speak to friends following the service. The family does ask that everyone attending the service to wear a face mask and observe social distancing.
