Lynda Bernice Sharbono (1942-2017) (Picture included)
SHARBONO, Lynda Bernice Lynda Bernice (Bassett) Sharbono, 75, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 26, 2017 after a bold fight with pancreatic cancer. Lynda was born in Columbia, La. on July 2, 1942, the daughter of Leonard C. and Julia B. (Anderson) Bassett. She grew up in Monroe, La. and graduated from Neville High School in 1960. Afterwards while attending Northeast La. State College she met the love of her life, Loyd Sharbono. They both then studied and graduated from Louisiana Tech University. They married in 1964, and after graduating moved to Houston, Texas where Lynda worked for a research doctor at M. D. Anderson Cancer Hospital. In 1969 she resigned that position and became a full-time mother and homemaker. After Loyd's job transfer to Dallas, Texas in 1985, Lynda worked several years in the personnel placement industry until retirement in 2007. Then she enjoyed being a loving wife and grandmother and more diligently pursuing her lifelong hobbies of reading and sewing. Throughout her life Lynda maintained a positive, can-do, take charge attitude for which she was admired. She made many deep and enduring friendships for which she was always loyal and honored. In 2003 she was challenged with breast cancer and defeated it. In 2014 she overcame urinary track cancer. In July 2017 she was diagnosed with aggressive pancreatic and liver cancers, but unfortunately they were too advanced to overcome. Thankfully, with hospice care she got her wish to return to her own home for her last days. Throughout, she maintained her strong composure and "one day at a time" attitude. She was a warrior! Lynda is pre-deceased by her parents, Leonard and Julia, as well as her oldest brother Carl Bassett. She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Loyd; daughter, Dia Sharbono, Dallas, Texas; son, Greg Sharbono, Houston, Texas; brothers, Glen Bassett, Houston, Texas and Dr. Wayne Bassett, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; sister Pat Goodwin, Elgin, Texas; three granddaughters: Tayler Sharbono, Hickory Creek, Texas; Kati Sharbono, Lewisville, Texas; Alaina Sharbono, Dallas, Texas; two great-grandsons: Jacksen and Remingten of Hickory Creek, Texas. The family extends many thanks to the staff at Pickens Cancer Hospital, and deepest appreciation to Dr. Robert Mennel and Dr. Mike Reese, her oncologists, as well as Dr. Susan Favour, her PCP. In lieu of flowers, Lynda requested donations be made to Girl Scouts of America (you may specify Service Unit 161, Troop 824 if you would like to do so.)
