Obituary
Minnie Johnson Bassett was born November 27, 1861; Died March 7, 1938, aged 76 years, 3 months and 10 days. She was born in Kentucky. At the age of 4 years her mother passed away.
Her father married again and with his family moved near Mt. Sterling Illinois, where she grew to womanhood. In 1880 the family moved to Norton County, Kansas. In 1881 she was married to Norton Henry Bassett, who was her loving companion during many happy years until his death in 1928.
She was the mother of three children. Lawrence Robert Bassett, of Nevada Iowa; Clara Corrinne Ryan who departed this life in 1928, and a son who died in infancy.
Mother Bassett has always been a Christian, and a comfort and cheer to her household. Her Christian life has been imparted to her family and to the community.
For the past 43 years she has lived in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma.
She leaves to mourn her loss; her son Lawrence, and five grandchildren, Constance Bassett ? Rector, Carol Margaret Bassett, Helen, Melva, and Billie Ryan Jr.
Mother Bassett has worked faithfully with the local Methodist church and has lived the motto of her favorite Scripture, Proverbs 31-27. ?She looketh well to the ways of her house-hold, and eateth not the bread of idleness.?
She was laid to rest in the family lot at the Square Cedar Cemetery between her beloved husband and daughter, a place she has longed to be.
