Norton owned and operated a general store in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma. Both are buried in Square Cedars Cemetery outside of Cleo Springs, Major County, Oklahoma.

Obituary
Norton Henry Bassett, born April 7th, 1853 died Nov. 3rd, 1928, after 73 years, 6 months and 26 days. He was born in Racine, Wisconsin where he grew to young manhood. In 1868 he moved with his folks to the vicinity of Cameron, MO. In the year 1881 August 28th, he was married Minnie Johnson. To this happy union were born three children. Lawrence Robert Bassett, now a resident of Oderbolt, Iowa; Clara Corrinne Ryan, of Cherokee, Okla., and one passing away in infancy. During the year 1882 they moved to Edwards County Kansas and joined with the many in helping to establish that state. His life has always been of a progressive nature and in the early years of the opening days of 1895, he with his family came to Oklahoma. For the past 33 years he has lived in Cleo Springs. He leaves to mourn his loss his faithful wife, his son, daughter, five grandchildren, and an only sister. Mrs. Corrine McClean, of Cameron, Mo who was unfortunate while on her way to his bedside, to fall and facture her hip and has been deprived of the privilege of being with the family during their present bereavement. Mr. Bassett proclaimed his Christian faith in the Quaker Church at Macksville, Kansas, many years ago and has always followed the dictate of his Lord and Master.
