  Notes	High Point Enterprise, North Carolina, Saturday, 31 October 1914 Killed by Auto Little Girl at Winston Run Over (Winston Journal) Pretty little Edith Bass, the five-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Bass, was struck by an automobile on Main street in front of Grizzards store yesterday afternoon about 6 o?clock and died at the entrance to the emergency room of the Spencer Sanitarium where she was carried in the arms of her father. However, death resulted before medical aid could be given. While the little girl was in the act of crossing Main street, someone on the west side of the sidewalk called her, causing her to turn around and start in the opposite direction. At that time, an autobmoile owned by Mr. P.R. Masten and driven by Miss Marguerite Pierce struck her, the rear wheel running over the little girl?s chest, rupturing a blood vessel and causing her to virtually bleed to death, it is said. The machine was running very slow at the time of the accident. The little girl did not utter a cry.
