Nell Hooks Bass, age 90, of Whiteville died Wednesday, December 7, 2020 peacefully at her residence. Mrs. Bass was born on July 26, 1930 in Whiteville, NC to the late Charlie Hooks and Monicia Spivey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Hubert R. Bass; brother, Wingate Edward Hooks; sisters, Geraldine (Jerri) Sellers Outz, and Imogene Andrews. She was a member of Western Prong Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bass is survived by her daughter Gloria Jean Bass Morgan and husband Dwight of Roxboro, NC, a son; Hubert Ralph Bass, Jr. and wife Gwen of Whiteville, sister Muriel H. Smarge of Florida, four granddaughters; Angela Brazzeal and husband Chris, Tammie McDonald and husband Dana, Heather Schoger and husband Jason, Stephanie Kingston and husband Christopher, Three grandsons; Matthew Morgan and wife Michelle, Hubert Ralph Bass, III and wife Elisha and Christopher Chad Bass. 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Western Prong Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Wilson officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers: Eddie Faircloth, David Maultsby, Brian Jenkins, Brent Lawson, Roscoe Edwards and Gene Inman.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Western Prong Cemetery Fund, 167 Peacock Rd, Whiteville, NC 28472.
