  Notes	Margaret was raised by her aunt Martha who gave her a wonderful home. They made all their clothes by spinning and weaving and used candles they made themselves for light. Maggie tried very hard, but although she learn weave, she was unable to learn to spin. She was taught how to render tallow and make candles. After she married, she and Robert lived for a while on the old place that David and Jane homesteaded in the house that Susan and h husbands built. They had two sons while living there, then moved into H Springs and had two daughters. She taught school in 1898. In 1908 Robert had a house moved, enlarged and improved it, and the family lived there. It is a very pretty two story house with 5 large rooms downstairs. The dining room was large enough for a table that could seat 16 people. The house still stands at the present address of 201 Oak Lawn Blvd. (1993) Robert and his brothers owned saloons, sometimes three at a time. The brothers were very large men. Robert's brother Will always ran the gambling upstairs. One day Will dropped some cards and when he stooped over to pick them up he had a stroke and died. The remaining brothers had saloons until prohibition closed them.
