George P. Bessette
THOMPSON, Conn. - George P. Bessette Sr., 58, of 999 Thompson Road, a maintenance worker, died Wednesday at home after being stricken ill.
He leaves a close friend, Sandra Roy, with whom he lived; three sons, George Bessette Jr. of Danielson, Billy Roy and Jeremy Bessette, both of Thompson; three daughters, Lisa Wood of Danielson, Joanne Demers and Michele Integlia, both of Dayville; a brother, Arthur Bessette of Plainfield; four sisters, Doris Soltez and Rita Babcock, both of Danielson, Rose Swatzell of Woodstock and Cecile Cusson of Dayville; seven grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Beverly Bessette, died in 1995. He was born in Putnam, son of Ernest A. and Leona (LaCroix) Bessette, and moved here almost 20 years ago.
Mr. Bessette worked in the maintenance department at St. Mary School, Putnam, for many years until he died. He also worked at St. Mary Church and St. Mary Cemetery. He previously worked at Colt's Plastics and Prym Co., both in Dayville, and InteRoyal, Plainfield. He was a member of Irish-American Club, Putnam, and several area French clubs.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, with a Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St., Putnam. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a charity not yet determined.
