Henry F. Bassett Dead In Taunton
Prominent Business Man, in 77th Year, Reported Ill Only Two Day.
Henry F. Bassett, prominent business man and life-long resident of Taunton, died at his home, 37 Church Green, that city, last night after an illness of two days. He was in his 77th year.
Mr. Bassett was born in Taunton in 1851 and lived in the city practically all his life. He was treasurer and general manager of the Taunton-New Bedford Coper Company with plants in both cities; president of the Taunton Savings Bank, and a member of the board of directors of the Machinist National Bank, the Old Colony Historical Society and Morton Hospital of Taunton, and the Attleboro Gas Company of Attleboro. He was formerly superintendent of the Taunton Water Works.
Mr. Bassett is survived by his wife, Emma C. Bassett; two sons, Edward and Francis J. Bassett; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Pierce and Miss Susan Bassett; and one brother, John S. Bassett, all of Taunton.
