Frank E. Bassett Succumbs at 83
Cedar Springs ? Frank E. Bassett, 83, former Cedar Spring merchant and businessman, died Monday at a Gran convalescent home.
Mr. Bassett was co-owner of a local general store here several years and in 1920 was instrumental in developing the Meyers lake resort area, building the pavilion there and platting the area with his partner. In 1924 he built a Cedar Springs service station and from 1929 to 1932 was co-owner of a restaurant here. He retired 12 years ago.
Surviving are four sons, Irwin and Alden of Cedar Springs, Roy of Northville and Ellsworth of Wayland.
Services will be held at 1:30 Wednesday at the Walsh funeral home, with burial in Elmwood cemetery.
