Miss Mary Carson To Marry June 25
Mrs. and Mrs. Elwood D. Howe Carson, 32 Birch Drive, Stratford, announce the engagement of their daughter Mary Elizabeth Howe Carson to Leroy Albert Bassett son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond L. Bassett of Shelter Rock Road, Danbury. The wedding is set for June 25.
The future bride, a great-great-granddaughter of Elias Howe, inventor of the sewing machine, was graduated from Stratford high school and is a telephone operator with the main office of the Connecticut National bank. She is a granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Carson of this city and Mrs. Martin Melkild of Northport, Michigan, and the late Mr. Melkild.
Mr. Bassett an alumnus of Danbury high school, studied at the Henry Abbott technical school majoring in electronics and is a sales representative and technical advisor with Acousticon, Hartford. He is a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor of Danbury and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Water of Concord, New Hampshire.

Miss Mary Carson, Leroy A. Bassett Married Yesterday
Miss Mary Elizabeth Howe Carson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood D. Howe Carson, 32 Birch Drive, Stratford, was married to Leroy Albert Bassett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond L. Bassett of Shelter Rock Road, Danbury, yesterday at 11 a.m. in St. John’s Episcopal church. The Rev. Harry B. Whitley performed the ceremony.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her gown, designed and made by her mother, was of white satin and Chantilly lace, fashioned with a round neckline and elbow-length sleeves on the Empire bodice of lace, and A-line skirt of satin and a detachable train. She wore a triple-tiered veil of silk illusion, arranged from a lace cap, and carried a bouquet of white roses and stephanotis.
Mrs. Seth S. Boughton of Danbury served as matron of honor, and Mr. Boughton was best man. John D. Carson, brother of the bride, ushered.
A reception followed in Guild hall of the church, after which the couple left for a wedding trip to Puerto Rico and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. They will reside at 76 Lincoln Street, Meriden.
