Bassett: Mary A. Bassett, age 98, of Silver City, died Feb. 11 in Ft. Bayard
Medical Center. Miss Bassett was born May 2, 1883 in Blair, Nebraska, t
daughter of Samuel and Sarah Jane Young Bassett, and resided here since 1914.
She was a partner and head bookkeeper of the Bassett Brothers Ford Agency of
Silver City, Santa Rita and Deming. Miss Bassett was a Past Worthy Matron of
Eastern Star, a Past president of the Business and Professional Woman and a
member of the Green Thumb Gardeners Club. She is survived by one sister,
Gertrude C. Warrick of Silver City; two nieces and four nephews. Services were
held last Saturday in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home Chapel under the
direction of Rev. C.M. Henderson. Burial followed in Memory Lane Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Samuel E. Steppe, Robert L. Johnson, Fra
Parrish, Ernest Brown, Carroll Mann, and Melvin Huff. Arrangements by Curtis-
Bright Funeral Home.
