Found Mother Dead
Mrs. James Bassett Succumbs During Night to Attack of Heart Failure
Mrs. James Bassett was found dead in her bed this morning at 7 o?clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lester Miller, in the Morgner building on Spring street. Mrs. Bassett, who was aged 73 years, resided with her daughter and Sunday evening was about the house as usual, although she complained some of not feeling well. She retired at the customary hour and this morning was found dead by her daughter. Dr. Schiller was summoned as was also Coroner Pierce. After making an examination the physician pronounced death due to heart trouble.
Mrs. Bassett came to Amsterdam about two years ago from Fultonville. She was a member of the Baptist church at Charleston Four Corners and besides the daughter already mentioned she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Charles Davis of Fonda. The funeral will be held at the house Thursday afternoon at 1 o?clock, the Rev. J.M. Hutchinson of the First Baptist church officiating. The remains will be taken to Fultonville for interment.
