March 10, 1894, Murray Higley died at his home in Emmetsburg, Iowa, after an illness of more than a year. Four weeks before his death he fell on his right side and dislocated his hip joint, and this added greatly to this sufferings and probably hastened his death. During his long illness he it is said he bore his sufferings with much patience and resignation, declaring that he was in God?s hands and he felt sure He would do what was for the best.
Murry Higley was the son of Daniel Higley, who came to Buffalo Grove about 1839. Murray Higley grew to manhood here and was married to Mary L. Bassett, about forty-four years ago. For many years they resided at Old Town. Mr. Higley was for several years engaged in brick manufacture and later he entered the grocery business in Polo. In 1876 he moved to Emmetsburg, Iowa, which has since been his home. His wife and several children survive him. He was about 65 years old.
