Notes - Martha was only 11 when her father died, but he had given her half of
his land. She lived with her mother until she married and the Nickels
built their house right by the Bassett house, at right angles to it. Martha
lived there and took care of her mother until Jane died. After Martha died,
Edgar went to California. When he came back for visits, he would bring large
jars of orange blossom honey and stay at Maggie's home. Martha is buried in
the old part of Hollywood Cemetery, Lot 4, Block 90.
