The funeral of Daniel Bassett took place this afternoon at 3:30 o?clock from his late residence on Cottage street. Rev. Charles T. Billings officiating. Interment was in the family lot in the Hingham cemetery, where a short service was held. Boston Evening Journal, Massachusetts, Tuesday, July 29, 1890 Daniel Bassett Mr. Daniel Bassett, one of the most prominent men in Hingham and President of the Hingham Institution for Savings, died very suddenly of apoplexy this morning at this residence on Cottage street. For a great many years he had been engaged in the coal business at the harbor, and, although he had not been very well for a few days, was at his office Monday and at the Hingham National Bank, of which he was a Director, Monday afternoon. He also entertained friends in the evening and was in excellent spirits.
